![]() It’s just too harsh to make a nice sipping whiskey although it gets better when adding rocks. ![]() I have fond memories as Jack Daniel’s was my first whiskey and something I enjoyed 20 years ago, but my taste has evolved greatly and now is something I would only drink if drowned in Coke. The finish is almost non-existent, hot and peppery, with a hint of citrus and something that reminds me of Gorilla Glue. Somewhat sweet up-front, with oak char bitterness coming behind overwhelming the sweetness as you keep drinking it. On the palate, Jack Daniel’s falls flat, with very little body as it lacks texture. The nose brings a plastic banana note, with hints of brown sugar, oak and just a bit of wood polish. In fact, Jack Daniel’s is still the best whiskey to mix with Coke! I’m no fan of the Jack Daniel’s as it is plagued with weird tasting notes making it a horrible sipper yet it becomes remarkably good when mixed with Coke. Finish: Citrus, black pepper, oak spice.Palate: Caramel, banana, oak char, cinnamon.Nose: Banana, oak, brown sugar, wood polish.This whiskey is surprisingly good for its price, not earth-shattering or memorable, yet provides some complexity and some good flavors and an easy drinker providing a satisfying experience. The finish has a medium length, with smooth rye spice, along more peppermint and a dash of oak spice. On the palate, Alberta Premium has a decent body as it does not feel as watery as the typical Canadian Whisky providing a good mouthfeel.įlavor hits with moderate rye spice and caramel, giving way to cinnamon, nutmeg and peppermint, along the grassy note present in rye whiskeys. Yet it does not hit with a high spicy note as one might expect making it an easy drinker.
